Week 2 Breathwork Journey

Below is the Week 2 Breathwork Journey to support you in moving through resistance. You can choose to do the longer 4-Round version or the shorter 2-round version.

We recommend to commit to a daily Breathwork practice as you move through the program to help regulate your nervous system and create a positive lifestyle habit of smooth rhythmic breathing in your life.

MINDSET TO BRING TO THE BREATHWORK THIS WEEK

“Meet resistance that arises as a friend bringing you an opportunity for growth!

If you are feeling stuck in breathwork, you will almost certainly find areas of your life where you are stuck also.  If you feel resistance, fear, mind chatter or doubting during the breath holds, try to reframe it from seeing it as a bad thing, into a great opportunity to work through your resistances.

This can be one of the more important, meaningful opportunities that this type of sacred pause during breathwork can offer you. This is an opportunity to shine a light on areas of your life where you may need an upgrade. Maybe it manifests as a stagnant relationship, a job that no longer interests you, repetitive emotional dramas or a habitual pattern of procrastination. As we become better observers of what arises, we create space to choose differently...to break old patterns of reacting that no longer fit where we are headed.

How you respond to what arises during a breathwork session will ALWAYS mimic how you respond to being stuck in various areas of your life. Learn to become a good observer during each session, as if you are watching everything come and go with each breath. Awareness and acceptance are precursors to creating space for deeper transformation.

Meeting a feeling of stuckness with acceptance during a breathwork session can yield some highly beneficial results the next time you experience “stuckness” in your external reality and can translate to breakthroughs in all areas of your life if you use it that way.

Get curious. Be open to what arises. Set an intention to see everything that arises to the surface as a gift and allow the breath to move it through the body like water.

How to work with resistance that arises:

- THANK your inner intelligence for bringing up this learning opportunity.

- OBSERVE what emotions arise… often you’ll find frustration.  Or anger.  Or sadness.  Notice those emotions, and fully embrace them.  Remember, if you resist them, they will persist!

- NOTICE what stories your ego mind tells about your experience.  Are there “ego resistance” thoughts like “no matter how long I do breathwork, this will never change?”  “I don’t have time for this.”  Or whatever? Notice the stories. Notice that they come from the mind.  Then let them go and recommit to being present in your body, or in the music, or in your emotions.  Or anywhere in the direct felt experience of the moment.

- Whatever comes up, set an intention to drop into it…and allow it to express itself fully.  Make expressive sounds.  Move your body.  Allow the emotions, sound and movement to set you free. Have fun!
