Gratitude is the quality of the heart and it’s good for your brain chemistry. The University of California Davis studied people who kept a weekly gratitude list, compared to people who kept a list of things that irritated them. They concluded that a conscious focus on blessings may have had an emotional and interpersonal benefit.
We all have heard about the power of gratitude before, but there is also some science to back it up. It’s nice to know there is some actual chemistry to this. The brain’s hypothalamus which we have established is in the center of the head regulates stress, so it also tickles an area in the brain called the ventral tegmental. The ventral tegmental produces feelings of pleasure and reward so we can conclude appreciation is a form of wellness.
A Daily Gratitude Practice to Expand Your Awareness
In the practice below, you are going to explore what you are grateful for and WHY, so that you can get some more of those positive feelings circulating in your hypothalamus. We want to bring your vibration up and we want you to get clear about where you want to focus your creative, as in your life creating energy. All this will become more obvious later when we breathe in these core desired feelings and the breathwork session to visualize and embody them on a cellular level.
Make your gratitude list as long as you want, the longer the better. Just gratitude it up! Fill up your entire being with appreciation and let those good feelings flow through your entire being.
Name off what you are grateful for in each 5 life areas of your life next to each thing that you say that you’re grateful for I’m asking you to complete the statement…
I am grateful for this, because…
Every morning right down at least 5 new things each day in a journal or notebook you keep specifically for writing down and noting the things that you feel appreciation for. It will not only start to rewire your brain and naturally put you into a state of attracting more things you appreciative of but will also be a wonderful treat to look back on a couple months down the road as you see all the many blessings you have in your life.
